Biography

I am a contemporary Artist specialising in sunsets, seascapes, landscapes and abstracts. I have loved painting and drawing ever since I can remember but it has only been in the last 6 years that I have become more serious about my work and am on the verge of turning professional. I originally started painting with watercolours which is a fascinating medium, and the planning and care that must go into each composition gives me great satisfaction. I moved onto experimenting with a variety of different styles and media and have recently been concentrating on acrylics with their endless possibilities in depth of colour and textures. I have gradually developed my current style, which you see on this site, having been influenced by all of these experiences.

I have been exhibiting my work since early 2005 and have been attracting international attention as well as considerable interest in this country. My paintings are currently hanging all over the UK as well as in America, Canada, France, Switzerland and Singapore. I have also been accepting regular commissions.

My paintings are distinctive with their strong colours and flowing lines and each one is truly unique. I vary the different styles and media that I use and you will see examples of this on this site. Some paintings are on stretched and primed cotton canvas frames with the painting continuing round the edges making them ready for immediate hanging. Some paintings are on triple primed cotton canvas sheets ready for framing and others high quality heavy canvas texture paper. I find this allows real versatility and the ability for people to display them using their own preferences.

About my Art

I paint from my studio in the Berkshire countryside and the surrounding woodlands and countryside provide very strong influences for me. The ever-changing colours and variety of shapes throughout the different seasons are a constant source of inspiration. I also draw inspiration for my paintings from sunsets and skies and use every opportunity to draw on emotions and experiences to shape the work you see on this site.

I love working with acrylics and large canvases with the great freedom of expression they allow. The immediacy of seeing my work come to life quickly is also a great satisfaction. I paint regularly in my spare time and as well as producing original art work, I also build on concepts from previous works to produce new aspects or additional detail.

I devote much of my spare time, when not painting, to enhancing my skills, learning new techniques and trialling different styles and media.
